Ginette Hannan

Ginette took her first photography class in 1989 and won her first award six months later.  She entered a photography contest entitled "It Was the Best of Times", encompassing the cities of Fredericton and Saint John.  To her amazement, she brought home the Grand Prize award over both cities.  For several years afer that she entered the local contest at the Fredericton Exhibition and has consistently won one of the top three prizes.  Her most recent recognition was an Honourable Mention in the national magazine "Here's How" with a photo of her granddaughter.

"People are my passion", she explains.  She has a knack for putting people at ease and tries to capture their real personalities instead of frozen smiles.  "I make it a personal challenge when people tell me they're not photogenic and never like any of their pictures", she explains.  "I feel great satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment when they look at their photos and say "I really like these!"

Ginette has five children and seven grandchildren.  She has a lot of experience taking pictures of babies and children and understands how to get the best out of them.  She has a lot of patience and knows what it takes to keep their interest.  "I can be pretty silly if I have to in order to get that cute smile or expression", she explains.  "My goal is to capture the child's personality; something for the parents to cherish after their child is all grown up." She also does maternity portraits and will even go to the hospital to take pictures of newborns if the parents request it.

Ginette is also one of the few photographers around who does boudoir photography.  These are tasteful, sensuous lingerie portraits done in complete confidence.  "I've been told by many of my boudoir clients that they were nervous before the session, but after only a few minutes into the session, they were totally at ease.  Many of my boudoir clients feel so comfortable during their session that they often ask to do nudes as well."  Ginette stresses that her nude portraits are also very tastefully done.

One of Ginette's favourite part of the photography business is doing weddings.  "I'm a hopeless romantic", she quirps, "and I love everything to do with romance and weddings."  One only has to look at her pictures to see her passion come through in her work.
